Die, Beau
back at work on monday morning. today has been so busy that i haven't really even sat at my desk for a few minutes since i got here 3 hours ago.
i got a really rude e-mail from a co-worker on saturday. i'm having a lot of problems getting along with him, and him with me (and everyone else in the office). it's gotten frusterating enough that i'm working on my resume. i'm not sure what i want to do, but i'm not sure how much longer i can deal with him talking me down before i crack and tell him what i really think, which will surely result in more trouble. i'm pretty much a nice guy to everyone, but i'd really like to physically injure this guy. we'll see how it works out.
recorded a good mix with esfand on saturday night, i was happy to have my good records that i collected from my sisters house friday evening. we cut the mix up into tracks which makes it a lot easier to listen to. i'll probably give a copy to jason and to some other friends for them to listen to and critique. a few of the mixes are off, but overall it's strong to quite strong.
i'm going to fix the table of contents for the Nour proposal and then go to best buy to get cd labels now-

New Office Space
2:39pm, just another thursday. today has been pretty easy and laid back. it's casual day and i like that. half of the office has moved to the new office space across the hall and there are a lot of vacant offices over here now. i'm ordering 5 computers today, one pre-build and 5 out of just parts that i'm going to assemble. should be a good time, but sometimes people i work with have a hard time understanding that i can't help them with whatever problems they have while i'm assembling pc's. sucks for them.
i ordered some records last night from chemical, for the first time in well over a year. i found the armour tune (dexters groove) that esfand has been playing and i've been looking for. i don't want to steal his style, because i know he loves that tune, but it's just too good for me to pass on. my concern now is how i'm going to play the tunes, since my setup at home has consisted of a single deck and my mixer for skratching. need to figure out how to get my setup back, including some speakers. ![]()
i'm planning on going to kings dominion on saturday with amy. that should be a good time i hope, i haven't been there in several years. my primary is that the lines will be really long, it being a saturday. we'll see how it goes.
back to listening to tribe in the earbuds and working on the william & mary flyer-
EFX-500: Sold
i meant to write in here yesterday but i never got around to it. so, i'll take the time now, before i really get settled in at work.
yesterday i shipped off my effects processor. i sold it on eBay a few days ago after finally just getting it back. chris left it in virginia beach when we played there 2 years ago! the slacker finally sent it back, but it had been gone so long when i got it that i didn't feel any kind of need or want for it. i was surprised at how much it garnered on eBay, about 85% of it's original value. good news!
Kat sent me an IM yesterday. usually when she contacts me online she sounds really friendly and enthusiastic which sometimes throws me off. i'm not sure if i know what she really thinks about me, and i feel like i'm always getting mixed signals from her. i don't let it bother me though, what she thinks of me is her business. she wants me to come out there to visit her in June, i'm not sure if i should. i'd like to see her, and i'd also like to spend some more time in that area, but i guess i just need some time to think about it.
the last week of may (memorial day weekend) i'm going to detroit. i've never been to detroit, so i'm looking forward to seeing a new city and getting some good photographs. james says that he knows of some really photogenic spots that he'll take me to, and some abandoned buildings and things. another reason why i'm going is for the detroit electronic music festival (DEMF) which is a weekend-long outdoor festival with tens of thousands of people. i've seen pictures of it and it looks pretty amazing. anyway, that'll be my weekend trip.
i'll get started with work now-
Welcome to Journal..ing
today has been quite the interesting day. esfand send me a link to his gay blog thing and i was like, you are gay. but since i'm quite the copycat bitch and i feel like i have something to say today, i went ahead and joined. i fully endorse the inevitable verbal lashings i know i'll get.
a few hours ago lonnie fisher send me an IM and asked if i wanted to open for fabio at Sonar in baltimore. i was torn between meh and wtf because i haven't played drum & bass out in a club in a long time, and i haven't been to sonar or even seen lonnie in the last year or so. i asked him which room it was in, and when he said that it was in the main room, i knew it was time to charge so i said i was in. so now i have to get new records to prepare for this, and get back into practice. i haven't even had two turntables set up in a few months (been skratching just on one deck). i think it was the right decision to make, however, considering the 2+ years i spent trying to play in that room. i think of all the local gigs i've had, playing in the lounge at sonar has been my favorite. the only thing as badass as the booth there is the atmosphere. the main room is much more rugged, so i don't think i can really play the same kind of set, but that's okay. honestly i don't even know if i care about who's there or not, it's just about fulfilling a dream that i was once pretty serious about.
my shure e2 earbuds arrived today. i've had esfand for a few days at home and i've been using them everynight - they're really great and i like them a lot. i used them mostly for the monroe institute hemisync records that i fall asleep to. i'm not sure how effective they've been thus far, but i can't give up yet since it's only been a few days. explaining how they work is kind of a complicated matter, but more or less, they provide subliminal 'brain' training while you sleep or meditate.
work has been really pretty busy today but somehow i've taken the time to write this. we're finalizing the WebGear logo this week and i've had several meetings with the stand in president of the company about it. it's funny what the uninformed think about logos - he wants it to have a drop shadow, or be a really literal representation of something. working as a designer in a place that isn't design-oriented is a constant compromise; the negotiation never ends.
back to work.
also, today is 4/20!
Date with Ashley
went on a date with this girl from my sisters office yesterday, ashley. it was alright, pretty fun. it's funny how within 10 seconds of knowing someone you feel like you know how much control you have in the relationship, be it platonic, romantic, or whatever. i knew instantly that i was in control of it, whereas with primo i know that she has my nutz in a jar. i think i knew this but it really occurred to me last night.
